1. About these terms

These Terms & Conditions govern your access to and use of the Hong Kong Vet Academy website and platform at hkvetacademy.com (the "Platform"), operated from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

By creating an account, submitting an enquiry or purchasing a placement, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

2. Eligibility

Students must be aged 16 or above at the start of a placement. Where a student is under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must consent to the placement and to these terms.

You agree that all information you provide, including your profile, education details and daily logs, is accurate and your own work.

3. Placements and clinics

Hong Kong Vet Academy arranges observational work experience placements at partner veterinary clinics. Placements are observational and educational in nature and do not constitute employment, an apprenticeship, or a contract of service.

Students remain under the supervision of the clinic's registered veterinary surgeons at all times and must follow all clinic instructions, safety rules and biosecurity procedures.

Availability of specific dates, clinics and supervising doctors is subject to change. We will use reasonable efforts to offer an alternative where a scheduled day cannot proceed.

4. Fees, invoices and refunds

Placement fees are quoted in Hong Kong Dollars (HKD) and are payable through the Platform in accordance with the invoice issued to you. Access to clinic selection and day booking is unlocked once the applicable payment is received.

Requests to reschedule a booked day should be made at least seven (7) days in advance and are subject to clinic availability. Fees for days missed without notice are non-refundable.

Where we cancel a placement and are unable to offer a reasonable alternative, we will refund the fees paid for the affected days.

5. Clinic commissions

Clinics accrue commission at the published rate per student per completed placement day. A day is treated as completed when the student's daily log is submitted and signed off by the supervising doctor.

Payouts are made to the Hong Kong bank account nominated by the clinic. The clinic is responsible for the accuracy of its bank details and for its own tax obligations.

6. Conduct, confidentiality and animal welfare

Students and clinic users must keep all patient, client and clinic information strictly confidential and must not photograph, record or publish anything from within a clinic without written permission.

Students must not perform any act of veterinary surgery or treatment. All activity must comply with the Veterinary Surgeons Registration Ordinance (Cap. 529), the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance (Cap. 169) and applicable clinic policy.

We may suspend or terminate an account for breach of these obligations, unsafe conduct, or falsified log entries.

7. Reference letters and certificates

Reference letters are issued at the sole discretion of the supervising doctor at the clinic. Certificates of completion are issued by Hong Kong Vet Academy once all required placement days are logged and signed off.

We do not guarantee admission to any veterinary school or programme.

8. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under Hong Kong law, including the Control of Exemption Clauses Ordinance (Cap. 71).

Subject to the above, our total liability arising out of or in connection with a placement is limited to the fees you have paid to us for that placement.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. You and Hong Kong Vet Academy submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kong courts.
